Intramurals

Intramural sports are structured individual, dual and team sport competitive activities scheduled for Rec Members with a valid UIS I-card. Campus Recreation utilizes IMLeagues to manage its Intramural Program.

Fitness & Wellness

The state-of-the-art Recreation and Athletic Center (TRAC) is a 72,000-square-foot facility managed by the Department of Campus Recreation and houses the offices of UIS Intercollegiate Athletics.  TRAC boasts a 23,000-square-foot arena available for multiple indoor sports, three fitness areas, a Multi-Purpose Room and two racquetball/squash courts. TRAC also serves as the home of UIS Men’s and Women’s Basketball and UIS Women’s Volleyball.

To help promote health and fitness, Campus Recreation offers personal training, fitness assessments, group fitness and a campus-wide wellness initiative that promotes wellness in all aspects of life.

Outdoor Adventures

Campus Recreation developed an Outdoor Adventure program to provide an enjoyable, challenging, meaningful and educational experience that will allow individuals and groups to learn the skills necessary for survival and safety in the outdoors as well as develop an appreciation for the environment. Outdoor Adventure trips are led by experienced trip leaders and are open to students and recreation members.

Student Organizations

Student organizations offer social, service, and professional opportunities for their members within the university and community. Membership can broaden acquaintances, develop leadership ability, build decision-making and problem-solving skills, and complement classroom instruction.

ARTS & OUTREACH

The University of Illinois Springfield’s vibrant campus community offers something for everyone. The campus atmosphere creates a lively environment in which students and members of the community alike can explore all that the university has to offer.

UIS produces and hosts events and exhibits throughout the year that promote the arts and the area’s important history. Check out the UIS Music Faculty Recital Series, Ensemble Concerts, and Community Music School. UIS Theatre launches a major production each semester and the UIS Visual Arts Gallery offers monthly art exhibitions with receptions. All of these are open to the public. Eligibility Requirements

  • At the University of Illinois, all international students are eligible to apply for scholarships.
  • Excellent academic performance.
  • Medical Coverage
  • A qualifying cumulative grade point average is required.
  • By the time you enrol at UIS, you must have completed 30 transfer hours.
  • Must be fully admitted and enrolled in a degree-granting programme.
  • You must be enrolled in an on-campus programme; online programmes do not qualify.
  • Students with a bachelor’s degree already (or those working towards a second bachelor’s degree) are ineligible.
  • You must have a current FAFSA on file with the Office of Financial Assistance by the start of classes.
  • Before the start of the school year, the Office of Admission must receive certified final transcripts.
  • Your admissions application will serve as the foundation for your scholarship application.
  • If the institution has a 3.0 GPA or higher, the award is renewable for up to two years.
