Highly stable polymeric alkaline anion exchange membranes (AAEM) for energy storage and conversion
The successful PhD applicant will be a member of the international graduate school “AGRIPOLY”of Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, which is part of the International Research Academy InGrA of MLU.
In a collaboration between two research groups novel alkaline exchange membranes will be developed and tested for their applicability in electrochemical energy conversion devices, and in particular alkaline electrolysis and alkaline redox-flow batteries. Novel polymeric materials developed and extensively characterized in the Macromolecular Chemistry group will be processed to membranes and tested for their physicochemical performance and their electrochemical properties in the Electrochemical Energy Conversion group. Based on the results of physical and electrochemical testing improved polymeric materials will be suggested.
To be eligible for the Scholarships position, an applicant must:
- have a master in Chemistry, Materials Science or similar
- experience in the field of electrochemistry, electrochemical techniques as well as in the field of macromolecules and organic/polymer synthesis
- be able to work in an interdisciplinary work environment, to establish and conduct a well-structured research program and is open to co-operations with other group members
