The Scholarship was established in 2018 and is funded by a Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) Grant and awarded to an academic staff member from the School of Population Health in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland. 

The main purpose of the this scholarship is to support a PhD scholar at the University of Auckland who is undertaking research in Nutrition, Public Health or Food Policy.

Benefits

Applicant will receive the following benefits:

  • An annual amount of $27,900
  • Tuition fees
  • International health insurance, if required
  • Scholarship will be awarded for a period of 36 months

Eligibility criteria

  • Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply
  • Awarded only to new students applying for admission to a PhD
  • Have completed a significant research project, dissertation or thesis, at university level
  • Have completed a Bachelors (Hons) degree with first class or a Masters degree with first class in a relevant field
  •  Write a research proposal to demonstrate your research capability and experience
  • Selection will be made on academic merit and the quality and nature of the research proposal
  • Proficiency in English language; IELTS (overall score of 6.5) or TOEFL (iBT overall score of 90, pBT overall score of 575)

  • Standing of awarding institution
  • Academic references (names and contact details)
  • Research and publication, if any

Applicants are not required to apply for this scholarship, award or prize or complete an online application form. It is awarded on the recommendation of the faculty or University of Auckland committee. Selection Committee will comprise the Primary Investigator of the grant, the Associate Dean (Postgraduate) of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (or nominee), and the Head of the School of Population Health (or nominee).
