PhD Fellowships Innovative Solutions of Antimicrobial Resistance – Denmark

Applications are invited for Fully Funded Three (03) PhD fellowships at Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark in the field of Innovative Solutions to the Problem of Antimicrobial Resistance.

Details

The fellowships are associated to the project INNOTARGETS, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 956154.

Antimicrobial resistance is a growing medical challenge, hampering the effectiveness of existing drugs and threatening the lives of patients. Therefore, there is a pressing need for novel compounds including compounds that re-sensitise drug-resistant bacteria to existing antimicrobials. To address this problem, the EU-funded INNOTARGETS project will train early-stage researchers (ESRs) in the identification of novel metabolic drug targets in pathogenic bacteria.

The project is a collaboration between 10 academia and industry partners in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and UK, and it will guide early stage researchers to use innovative approaches to achieve their scientific goals. INNOTARGETS aims to train ESRs who have scientific and technical skills which are attractive to both industry and academia.

Benefits

Successful PhD Fellowship applicant will receive the following benefits:

  • Depending on seniority, the monthly salary begins around 27,593 DKK /approx. 3.705 EUR (April 2020-level) plus pension and a possible MSCA supplement
  • The employment as PhD fellow is full time and for 3 years

Eligibility

To apply for PhD Fellowships, applicants must:

  • Not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Denmark for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment
  • Be Early Stage Researcher (ESR), i.e., at the time of recruitment he/she they must be in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research career and must not have been awarded a doctoral degree
  • Obtained a Master’s degree, preferably within Medical, Veterinary or Molecular Microbiology
  • Fluent in English
  • Documented experience with handling pathogenic microorganisms in the laboratory

  • Curriculum Vitae incl. education, experience, language skills and other skills relevant for the position
  • Master of Science diploma and transcript of records. If not completed, a certified/signed copy of a recent transcript of records or a written statement from the institution or supervisor will do
  • Publication list (if possible)
  • Letters of recommendation
