Focusing on Women’s Economic Empowerment
Throughout the world both digital and traditional media startups are harnessing the power of the internet to launch new and innovative media projects.
Entrepreneurial journalists are using big data to expose corruption, harnessing social media to increase citizen participation and designing interactive websites that are forcing both big business and governments to be more transparent.
Despite some inspiring success stories, many entrepreneurial journalists are isolated and struggling to develop sustainable business models.
This 3-week course will empower female digital media entrepreneurs to improve their chances of success by providing training during which they can network, share resources, learn business skills and draw on the expertise of others who are facing similar challenges. The course will include workshops devoted to editorial and financial management as well as to identifying the leadership and management styles best suited to meeting the challenges of the changing media landscape.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
<li>You are currently working as a journalist with a minimum of three years’ experience in digital media.</li>
<li>Your are female.</li>
<li>You are able to provide the original proof (or a properly certified copy) of your most recent educational qualification in secondary or higher education.</li>
<li>You have sufficient skills in spoken and written English as this is the working language for our courses.</li>
