Applications are invited for Fully Funded Masters degree Scholarship in International Media Studies     (IMS) at DW Akademie/Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and Bonn University, Germany.


Journalists and Media Managers thought out the world face various challenges such as Thinking globally, acting locally, Identifying trends and maintaining networks across borders, Navigating and producing both digital and multi medial. To address all the, Fully Funded Scholarships are available for applicants from developing countries by DAAD to complete Masters degree in International Media Studies. The program is Full time, 04 semesters and includes the disciplines of Digital Media and Development, Communication Science and Media Management and offers a mix of research, lectures and practical experience that will prepare scholars for careers in the communications and media industries.

The program is designed primarily for young journalists, media managers and communications staff who come from developing and transition countries aimed at:

  • Media workers from radio, TV, online and print
  • Young journalists, especially those working with electronic media
  • Journalists and managers from community radio stations
  • Communications experts
  • NGO employees
  • Government ministry employees
  • Staff working in the area of development cooperation
  • Representatives of national broadcasters’ regional working groups
  • Media association representatives

Eligible Countries:

Applicants must be national of eligible counties to apply for DAAD scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants are required to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree or equivalent in media related field
  • One year experience working in a media related field
  • Proficiency in English language (spoken and written); IELTS (6.5 overall), TOEFL score (pBT 550, cBT 220 or iBT 83)
  • Proficiency in German language (spoken and written); DSH (Level 1), TestDaF (Level TDN 3)

  • One year Professional experience in a Media-related field
  • Certificate of APS (for applicants from China, Vietnam and Mongolia)

  • Recommendation letter from your employer (letterhead, official company stamp, date and signature)
