“Maternal Obesity And Uterine Programming: The Consequences For The Offspring’s Reproductive Physiology”

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences requires applications from potential PhD Scholars to fill a Fully Funded Doctoral (PhD) position in the Department of Veterinary Sciences in the area of Veterinary Sciences in the project “Maternal Obesity And Uterine Programming: The Consequences For The Offspring’s Reproductive Physiology” in which the importance of the maternal diet and body condition will be investigated in relation to the offspring’s health and fertility (epigenetic regulation), using a mouse model.

Work responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have to;

  • Prepare a doctoral (PhD) thesis in the field of Reproductive Physiology
  • The successful candidate will work with laboratory animals and in a cell culture laboratory
  • Publish scientific articles related to the research project of the assignment which will result in a PhD thesis
  • Contribute to teaching and research in the Laboratory of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry at the Department of Veterinary Sciences
  • Focus will be on the practical training of bachelor students in Veterinary Sciences (animal handling and clinical investigation)

Requirements:

  • Hold a Master degree in Life Sciences,Veterinary, Biological, Biomedical, Medical or Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Master in Veterinary Sciences is an advantage
  • Submit outstanding academic results
  • Students in the final year of their degree are encouraged to apply
  • Foreign candidates are encouraged to apply

  • Quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative
  • You have to be a team player
  • Excellent  communications skills with colleagues and supervisors are essential
  • Willing to travel, visit laboratories abroad and present research results orally at international forums
  • Appropriate training and degree to work with laboratory animals (Felaca C) is a plus

  • A Doctoral (PhD) scholarship for a period of two years, with the possibility of extension for a further two-year period upon positive evaluation
  • Gross monthly grant ranging from € 2.324.20 – € 2.469.08
