Opening Of Academic Positions (118 Tenure-Eligible Lecturer and 04 as Associate Professor) – Spain

Tenure-Eligible Lecturer (118 contracts) and 04 as Associate Professor are required through The Serra Húnter Programme (SHP) at the Public Universities of Catalonia (Spain). Positions are available in the following fields of study;

The university offering the position will hire the successful candidates and are expected to cooperate with existing research groups and to develop new lines of research, complementary to those already in place. Please note that these positions also require teaching obligations.


The successful candidate is required to;

  • Hold a PhD degree
  • Have an excellent record of publications in good venues in their fields, international exposure and have participated in competitive research projects
  • Have teaching experience
  • For associate professor positions, applicants must have at least 03 years of Post-Doctoral research experience


  • Fixed-term full-time contract is offered to Tenure-eligible Lecturers for a period of up to 05 years
  • The annual starting salary for a lecturer is currently 32,596.15 Euros
  • After passing a successful evaluation, at the end of the contract, the university aims to open a permanent position as Associate Professor
  • Lecturers may also receive salary for teaching and research merits
  • Full-time permanent contract is offered to Associate Professors
  • The annual starting salary for Associate Professor is currently 35,968.48 Euros
  • An Associate Professor will have doubled their starting at the end of academic career following positive assessments in teaching and research merit evaluations
  • Contracts include health, retirement and unemployment benefits

Selection process will include two steps;

First step:

The Serra Húnter Programme will transfer all information to the external agency AQU Catalunya, responsible for the assessment, accreditation and certification of quality in the Public Catalan Universities.

AQU Catalunya will evaluate the candidate’s CV based on research and teaching merits following objective criteria

Candidates that obtain favorable accreditation from AQU Catalunya will successfully pass the first step

Second step:

Will open with formal call for applications by the university offering the position

This second step will have two phases

In the first phase, an analysis and assessment of the specific merits of each candidate and will be eliminatory

The second phase will consist of an interview to assess the suitability of the candidate for the position offered
